Revelation Revealed: Course Overview

Islamic Learning Foundation is pleased to present to you our new course entitled “Revelation Revealed: Access to Quranic Arabic.”  This one weekend course will cover the fundamental verbal and grammatical constructs of the Quran as illustrated by a variety of representative verses.  This analysis is further supplemented with a set of key vocabulary required for understanding the oft-repeated statements in the Quran so as to establish a strong literacy of the Quranic language.

The intention of the course is to provide students with a broad overview of the various components of the Quranic language.  Students who complete this course will have a solid foundation upon which they can continue their study of the Quran and the Arabic language in general.  The following topics are included: 

Chapter 1: Types of Words in the Arabic Language

Chapter 2: Types of Nouns

Chapter 3: Masculine & Feminine

Chapter 4: The Number of Nouns

Chapter 5: The Grammatical Status

Chapter 6: Pronouns

Chapter 7: Compounds

Chapter 8: The Adjectival Compound

Chapter 9: The Possessive Compound

Chapter 10: Pointing Words Compound

Chapter 11: The complete nominal sentence

Chapter 12: The Past-Tense Verb

Chapter 13: The Present-Tense Verb

Chapter 14: Command & Prohibitions

Chapter 15: The Passive Verb

Chapter 16: Jazm and Nasb Transformers

Chapter 17: The Verbal Sentence 

Instructional Time: Students will cover the material over 20 hours of instructional time.

Class Material: All students will be provided ILF’s very own Revelation Revealed Text and Workbook. 

Homework & Exams: Students will have two weeks to complete the workbook provided and prepare for the final examination.  During this period the instructors and teaching-assistants will be available to answer all questions in order to ensure maximum understanding of the material.  Opportunities to meet with the instructor or TAs will also be available if students so desire.  Final Exam Info will be provided in class.
